World Contraception Day 2013

14/09/2013 - 17:26

World Contraception Day (WCD) takes place on September 26 every year.

This annual worldwide campaign centres around a vision for a world where every pregnancy is wanted.

Launched in 2007, WCD's mission is to improve awareness of all contraceptive methods to enable young people around the world to make informed decisions on their sexual and reproductive health.

For this and future years WCD will be using an umbrella theme: 'Its your life; its your future'. This theme has been chosen as it is forward-looking, positive and empowering.

There are 3 sub-themes:

  • Your options where young people can learn about all the contraceptive options available, using a reliable, unbiased source of information.
  • Your future: understanding how unplanned pregnancies can happen and how the body changes during puberty
  • Your partner: learning to talk to your partner about contraception and how to build a trusting relationship based on reliable information

More information about World Contraception Day 2013 as well as materials for download you will find in the education section of this website.
